LifeSiteNews has launched a petition to mark 2019 World Down Syndrome Day, to request that the United Nations help stop the abortion of Down syndrome babies. LifeSiteNews notes that 92 per cent of Down syndrome babies are aborted in the U.S., 98 per cent are aborted in Denmark and almost 100 per cent are aborted in Iceland. The comparable number in Canada is around 85 per cent. Aborting pre-born Down syndrome babies is the targeting of a particular group of people for extinction; it is eugenics. In 2017, Ryan Mager, 19, of Alabama, was unable to convince his pregnant girlfriend not to abort their unborn child. She disregarded his request, took an abortion pill, and ended the life of their child. In late 2018, a bill was passed in the Alabama legislature recognizing the fetus as “a person with rights.” Ryan, who is pro-life has taken advantage of the new legislation and has filed a lawsuit naming Alabama Women’s Center and the pharmaceutical company responsible for the abortion pill. The judge in the case allowed Ryan to enter the lawsuit, making it the first time in U.S. history that an unborn baby has been recognized as a person with rights. Ryan is also allowed to name the baby, who is being called “Baby Roe,” as a “wrongful death” co-plaintiff. The attorney representing Baby Roe’s estate said that, “this is the first estate that I am aware of that has ever been opened for an aborted baby” and believes the case could reach the Supreme Court, although some legal experts are doubtful. Typically, Ilyse Hogue, the president of the NARAL Pro-Choice America tweeted that she found the case to be “scary.” Ryan was devastated when his baby was aborted, and suggests that his action might give hope to other fathers in the same situation.

Kamala Harris is a radical left-wing Democrat running for the party’s presidential nomination, in preparation for the 2020 U.S. presidential elections. As a former prosecutor who had to view autopsy photos of homicides in the course of her work, she remarked recently that, “when you see the effect of this extreme violence on a human body, and especially the body of a child, maybe it will shock some people into understanding” that the U.S. needs gun controls. As a pro-abortion candidate, however, Harris doesn’t give equal repugnance to the homicide of unborn children who are ripped from or suctioned out of the womb of their mothers. As the former Attorney General of California, she defended Planned Parenthood in their despicable practice of selling body parts of aborted children.

As of March 8, Congressional Democrats have “thwarted an attempt by Republicans to vote on a bill that would provide medical care and treatment for babies who have survived a failed abortion – 14 times in the House of Representatives and twice in the Senate” according to LifeNews. The bill is called the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors’ Protection Act. To be clear, those who have voted against this bill are voicing their support for infanticide. They include every Senate Democrat who is running for leader of their Party in the run-up for the U.S. presidency in 2020: Bernie Sanders (Vermont), Kamala Harris (California), Cory Booker (N.J.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), and Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), as does former Congressman Robert Francis (Beto) O’Rourke, who does not have a seat in the American assembly. The remaining avenue open to the Republicans is to file a discharge petition, a procedural tactic which allows a majority of the House of Representatives (218 lawmakers) to force a floor vote on a bill, even if the leader (in this case, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi) opposes the measure. President Donald Trump has called out the senators, tweeting that it is nothing short of “executing” babies to let them die after failed abortions.

Roderick Falconer (also known as Roderick Taylor) is a 69-year-old American poet, recording artist, screen writer, and television producer/director who received his MA at Stanford University and where he continues to teach creative writing. Falconer has written a poem on abortion “in which he eloquently describes the brutal reality of an abortion as you’ve never heard it before” (Daily Wire). Here is the beginning:

We walk into the starless night,
The ground beneath our feet is wet with babies’ blood.
The sticky mud of once warm life tossed out,
discarded in this restless resting place.
Where little souls are laid in layers of the lifeless dirt,
found guilty of desiring to be born…

Falconer recited his poem of just over 2 minutes, entitled The sex life of fire, on Feb. 25, and it has gone viral on Youtube. As he speaks, the words appear on the bottom of the screen, while soft, almost eerie music is heard in the background.

On March 21, at the White House, President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and Ivanka Trump welcomed a number of Down syndrome people and their families to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. In his statement, Trump said: “We will always support the dreams of those with Down Syndrome, and respect and honor the sanctity of their lives, at every stage … All people are endowed by their Creator with dignity and the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness …our Nation strongly embraces the undeniable truth that a Down syndrome diagnosis is an opportunity to embrace God’s gift … Life is precious, and it is our moral duty to protect and defend it.”
