Next month The Interim begins its 25th year of publication. We are making plans for a number of exciting stories, new features and series of events to mark the benchmark. We need your involvement for one of them: what are the signs of hope for pro-life and pro-family Canadians.
Often this paper is criticized for being too negative. I disagree with the charge for a number of reasons I will get into during another From the Editor’s Desk column. And my guess is that this criticism often betrays the complaintant’s own glass-is-half-empty worldview.
But I do admit a need to focus more on the hopeful developments, trends and signs, as well as good news stories. We at the paper have our own ideas about the reasons to be hopeful that eventually many of society’s ills (abortion, euthanasia, same-sex ‘marriage’, family breakdown, sexual liscentiousness and unethical medical research to name a few) will be fixed. It may not be soon, but no lie – and abortion and same-sex ‘marriage’ are built on untruths – can stand forever.
But The Interim is more than its full-time staff, volunteer editorial board, and freelance contributors. It is yours, the pro-life community’s newspaper. We want to hear from you regarding the hopeful signs, both in Canada and abroad.
What makes you hopeful that abortion will eventually be recriminalized? What will tip the scales of justice in favour of the unborn? What will the historians and anthropologists of the future discover as the tipping point for a return to moral decency in Canada? Is it one thing or a number of developments?
I personally have little time for those who say that all is lost, that abortion and same-sex ‘marriage’ are here forever. But if you think that our hopefulness is misplaced, let us know.
