Canada

Did you know, dear pro-life reader, that the Canadian government categorizes you as a “terror threat” to the peace, justice and good order of our country. We don’t threaten anyone, we don’t hold the country hostage to our demands, we don’t jeopardize the economy of our country, and we don’t hate. Yet, the Canadian conservative medium, Rebel News, has revealed that the RCMP refers to pro-lifers as “right wing extremists.” In a secret, unclassified document the RCMP identifies pro-lifers as “threats to Canada and Canada’s Armed Forces akin to the KKK, Neo-Nazis and other ultranationalist terror groups” (posted Jan. 21on RebelNews.com). It refers to RWE (Right Wing Extremism) where you may find yourself included, if you identify as pro-life, with a range of groups and individuals from white supremacism and anti-semitism, to anti-law enforcement and racism. The Canadian blog, True NorthCentre for Public Policy (whose journalists include Andrew Lawton, a Canadian broadcaster, and columnist at The Interim) contacted a spokesperson at the Dept. of National Defense who confirmed that the military considers “pro-life extremism” to be a type of right wing extremism” and has been identified “on occasion” as “violent acts against abortion clinics, their staff and clients.” The spokesperson did not identify which “occasions” to which they were referring. Canadian pro-lifers have protested peacefully over the years with no ‘occasions’ of violence. Ironically, the ultimate violence of murder is perpetrated on defenseless unborn babies every day, who are killed by abortionists with the complicity of many others, including those who vote, quite deliberately, for pro-abortion politicians and political parties.

This next item is an example of current thinking on gender dysphoria exhibited in the medical and political classes which parents are fighting in order to protect their children from brutality. A recent South Dakota bill 1057 sought to block physicians from providing blockers and gender confirmation surgery to transgender children under the age of 16, under pain of criminal charges. This sounds like reasonable legislation to protect vulnerable children from being physically mutilated by physicians who should know better. The bill passed the house, but unfortunately, was blocked by the state Senate Health and Human Services Committee by a vote of 5-2, with the strong support of the left-wing American Civil Liberties Union, and the American Medical Association which, cowards that they are, were looking at the almighty $$$s that doctors would reap from their new transgenderized child clients. But surely the group that inflicted the mortal wound were Republican lawmakers who voted against the bill. One Republican had the nerve to invoke ‘family values’ as his decision to block the legislation: “I believe the building block of society is the family” although he gave no reason why preventing doctors from mutilating children would be contrary to family values. Another Republican refused to take any moral responsibility for her decision to block the legislation: “I struggle to see this as a South Dakota issue.” We suggest that she struggle some more. Transgender advocates also had the support of medical professionals including The American Academy of Pediatrics (See Notebelow), and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. One psychiatrist, Jack Turban, of Harvard Medical School, said that the bill was a “chilling example of politicians trying to politicize standard medical care” (NBCnews.com, Feb. 10). And here we were thinking that psychiatrists were educated, reasonable people. Note: The American College of Pediatricians (in contrast to the American Academy of Pediatrics which opposed the bill) is dedicated to the health and well-being of children. It calls for an end to the normalization of gender dysphoria in children because it has led to the ongoing experimentation upon, and sterilization of, confused children. This is the pediatric organization that parents in the U.S. should consult if their child is having gender dysphoria issues.

Truly demonic! That is the only way one can describe an encounter at a Feb. Pete Buttegieg political rally. Mayor Pete as he is known was appearing before his adoring voting fans in Colorado on Feb. 22 when he was presented with a question from a nine-year-old boy: “Thank you for being so brave. Would you help me tell the world that I’m gay too.” (Does that look like something that a nine-year-old would write, or was there help from an adult?) The shy boy came on stage and stood there while Pete gave him ‘helpful’ suggestions. The crowd roared its approval and several times broke into the ‘gay’ mantra “love is love.” At the end, Pete’s ‘husband’ rushed on stage and escorted the boy off. After the rally, the boy told a reporter: “I’m glad I was able to tell everyone in the audience that I’m gay.” Part of the video, with an accompanying article by Doug Mainwaring, is available on Lifesitenews; the entire video of just over 4 minutes is on YouTube. What one hears from Pete’s advice is out-and-out sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor. This is the same politician who says that if you oppose abortion you aren’t Christian, because God loves abortion. This is also the same politician who says that the Bible approves of homosexuality. We would do well to remember the teaching of Christ: “Woe to him who teaches the little ones to sin. It would be better that a millstone be hung around his neck and he be thrown into the sea.”

Attention Chocoholics! Laderach Chocolatier Suisse, the largest chocolate retailer in Switzerland, has come to Toronto: York Mills Shopping Centre and the Eaton Centre. If you are outside the GTA, you can order on-line. Why are we advertising a chocolate company? The Laderach family is pro-life, pro-family and members of Christianity for Today (CFT) which sponsors the annual March for Life at a number of sites in Switzerland. CFT believes in the traditional marriage of one man and one woman, and advocates for life from conception to natural death. Are you still not convinced? The Laderach stores are targeted with violence and protests in Switzerland and Germany, and recently their 10-year contract with Swiss Air to provide small packages of chocolates for their flying customers was cancelled due to the Laderach family’s personal beliefs. Have a piece of guilt-free Swiss chocolate.

A recent survey in the U.S. by Life Way Research has revealed interesting statistics on acceptance of same-sex “marriage” among a number of Protestant pastors. When asked about the acceptance of “two people of the same gender getting married” here is the breakdown: Lutherans (35 per cent), Methodists (47 per cent), Presbyterian/Reformed (49 per cent), and Christian/Church of Christ (20 per cent) are more likely to “Agree” than Baptists (three per cent) and Pentecostals (one per cent). The survey also found that female pastors are more likely to “Agree” with same-sex “marriage” than male pastors (59 per cent versus 18 per cent). Episcopalian pastors who are almost 100 per cent in favour of same-sex “marriage,” and just recently made an openly lesbian pastor a bishop, were not included in the survey. A representative of the Episcopalian denomination suggested that the lesbian pastor’s election to bishop “is one more item among many that push theological conservatives out of the church,” a finding that is confirmed by members who move from one Protestant denomination to another that is more in keeping with their cultural views.” Life Way Research found that “The movement we see among pastors’ views of same-sex “marriage” has less to do with their denominational tradition than their view of the Bible.” For example, for Evangelicals the ultimate authority is the Bible regardless of changing cultural trends.

“Comprehensive sex education, according to Planned Parenthood, is a term that refers to K-12 programs covering human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture – as opposed to sex education that only focus on abstinence.” The Institute for Research & Evaluation conducted a review of 103 school-based sex education studies in the U.S. and internationally and found “little evidence that (comprehensive sex education) programs are effective at producing positive impact on their participants and questioned the efficacy of school based comprehensive sex education.”The lead author of the study stated that “perhaps of greatest concern, this new analysis found harmful effects on children and youth for roughly one in six school-based comprehensive sex education programs worldwide.” It also showed that 16 of the studies “showed negative effects on teen sexual behaviour and sexual health, including increases in teen sexual activity and other risky behaviours” including “increased pregnancy, increased STDs, increased sexual activity, decreased condom use, increased oral sex, increased sex partners, an increase in forced or coerced sex, or an increase in paid sex.” The study did not report on abortion statistics, which, we assume, would increase based on sexual activity of the teens involved. The review recommended the need for more studies on abstinence-only sex education. Comprehensive sex education is supported in the U.S. by a wide variety of medical organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and many more, all of whom will profit financially from confused children and youth who are not ready for the sexual education that is being peddled so unashamedly. As proof that school-based comprehensive sex education is not working, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published (October 2019) that “sexually transmitted diseases are at an all-time high. Primary and secondary syphilis cases are up by 14 per cent in the U.S. while gonorrhea increased by 5 per cent to more than 580,000 cases, the highest number reported since 1991. Chlamydia (which, in many cases renders females sterile and unable to bear children) rose to more than 1.7 million cases, the most chlamydia cases ever reported.” As Family Watch International stated: “If the nation’s comprehensive sex education programs were really working, these disease numbers should be trending down … The Trump administration” has been working “to decrease funding for comprehensive sex education programs” and instead “allocate more funding for sexual risk avoidance abstinence programs that do work. Unfortunately, the courts have overruled the administration and Congress just recently also voted to continue funding for (comprehensive sex education).” (Quotes are from The Daily Signal, Feb. 21.)

In The Interim(Feb. 2020) we reported that the Macron government was supporting a bioethics bill to legalize government-subsidized artificial insemination for single women, including those in a lesbian relationship. There were massive demonstrations of hundreds of thousands of French citizens, in Sept. and again in Jan., against the bill which they rightly saw as an assault on the French family. However, the French Senate disregarded the voices of reason and passed the bill into law by a bare 10 votes.
