The following was extracted from a Burnaby, B.C. parish bulletin, written by Canon E. Gale of the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada.  It concerns Bill C-43, the government’s abortion legislation.

Someone who has actually studied the bill and subsequent pronouncements by government officials has told me:

“The effect of this bill is to legalise the killing of unborn children, to make abortion a woman’s entitlement (the word Hitler used in his abortion and euthanasia laws), to prevent third-party litigation (by the father or others who may try to prevent an abortion), to protect the abortionist doctors from prosecution, to deprive unwanted human beings from protection in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, to open the door to abortifacient drugs, to force provincial governments and taxpayers to supply abortion facilities and payment.”

No Christian could ever support this bill or a politician or a party that would propose such legislation.

According to the newspapers, several Christian MPs seem to have convinced themselves that they should support the bill.  I would suggest that they should read the fourth chapter of the Book of Esther, especially verses 13 to 16, heeding the words of Mordecal (`…who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?:) and Esther’s reply (`…so will I go unto the King, which is not according to the law:  and if I perish, I perish.’)  Esther faced the real possibility that she would die, either as one of the condemned Jews or for flouting the law.  Are there any Christian MPs who will risk political death by refusing to vote for the proposed law?

Read 1the Signs of the Time’:  the Prime Minister says he is anti-abortion, he appears to be a `practicing Catholic,’ and yet he forces a large number of his party in Parliament to choose between God and him – they must support the bill.

The federal government has rescinded the charitable status of Alliance for Life `because it is too political’ (the many pro-abortion groups aren’t political?)  Will other pro-life groups soon lose their charitable status?  Will some government official read these Newsletters of mine and determine that this Parish is `too political,’ and do the same to us?

The lawyer for the local abortuary in Vancouver, in order to regain the legal costs involved when the first `blockaders’ of the `clinic’ were found guilty, has moved to `attack the houses and force their sale’ of two of them.  It is beginning to look as though George Orwell only got the date wrong.

Editor’s Note: The Department of Revenue is threatening to withdraw the charitable status of Alliance for life, but has not yet done so.  Readers should write their MPs protesting this latest bullying tactic.
