During a recent speaking engagement in Toronto, I had the opportunity to meet in interesting young man. A student in his early twenties, he epitomized the image of success: wealthy family, the best schools, summer vacations in Europe.
Over dinner, the conversation turned to politics. The young man, “Justin,” had been active in the recent provincial campaign, working on behalf of a local candidate. Somehow, the conversation centred on Premier David Peterson’s track record to regard to Bill 7, the infamous pro-homosexual “sexual orientation” Bill. Midway through our discussion, Justin quite casually turned to me and said in roughly these words: “…there are plenty of homosexuals in politics, the provincial Minister of So and So and the minister of Such and Such. Of course there are even more at the federal level, but, do you really think people even care that these men are gay?
Justin, in an off-the-cuff manner, began to name names of both federal and provincial politicians who were known to be practising homosexuals. One had even been confronted on the steps of Queen’s Park in full view of reporters and cameras and challenged to be open about his sexual preference. Not one word or picture of that confrontation was ever printed. At a time when the word “censorship” is an abomination to the media, I find it ironic that the press would “protect” the public from such information by doing just what they, themselves, deem contemptible!
Immorality
Justin’s statement bothered me long after our group had left the dinner table: “Do you really think people even care that these men are gay?”
Have we become so complacent in our comfortable homes and cultivated lifestyles, that it is easier to ignore militant homosexuals and other anti-life groups, so long as they don’t interfere with our lives? Is it more trendy to be “liberal” and “forward-thinking” than to look immorality in the eye and say “enough!”
As I pondered Justin’s statement and the laissez-faire manner in which it was made, I began to wonder just how far down the road to apathy Canadians had already travelled.
In my journeys throughout Canada and the United States, I have the opportunity to meet people from many walks of life. One predominant theme crops up in conversation after conversation…” how did our society slide to the amoral depths in which it finds itself today?”
Did militant Marxist-feminist, radical homosexuals and lesbians sneak up on us in the night to steal away traditional values, portraying homosexuality as the natural expression of one’s sexuality? Have feminists used a magic wand to turn women against men and men into timorous shadows of their former selves, apologetic for any assertive attitudes?
Theories
Several theories have been put forward to explain the erosion of traditional Christian values, which have detoured our society into a vast moral wasteland. The Secularist might blame moral decay on changing societal values. The Christian would point a finger at a more Mephistophelian adversary. While, to a degree, both these theories hold true, there is yet a third cause which I would address.
To every person who has said: “I give up on politicians, they are all crooked anyway,” or “I’m just one person; who in the government will listen to me?” or the Christian whose excuse is “We need to pray for our government, but must maintain the separation between Church and State…besides Christians don’t belong in politics, it’s too dirty,” I am convinced that the time for hiding out in the Church is over.
Christian men and women need to call a halt to the absurdity going on around them. As the last guardians of Biblical moral principles, as advocates of decency and justice, Christians must rise up and speak to the Darkness which threatens our fundamental freedoms and, in fact, our very families.
The collective foes of Christianity today, the Secular Humanists, militant homosexuals and lesbians, and the rabid Marxist-feminists are participants in a well-orchestrated effort to destroy the last vestige of Christianity. Why? Simply because Christian doctrines are a direct contradiction to the philosophies and hidden agendas of such organizations. These groups promote man as his own God, irresponsible and amoral sexual activity, and state dictatorship, run by and for a matriarchal society.
Christian involvement
Our churches are no longer a sanctuary from the madness which permeates the political power structures within our land. If you and I fail to confront such lunacy head on, we will find ourselves attending state-controlled churches more representative of those in the Soviet Union!
Do we remain spectators or take action to hold back the Darkness?
The time for a joint effort has come. Christians need to “take back the night” in this country, to involve themselves in the local riding associations, to write their Members of Parliament when they are alerted to harmful legislation. A great many organizations, similar to REAL Women, exist for the protection of the family and freedom. I urge you to join these groups and also become personally involved on a local level. Sometimes involvement means a letter to the editor of your newspaper, or a phone call to a radio station. The time for wringing-of-hands is over. Certainly, much damage has been done by leftist organizations, largely because the “silent majority” was just that – silent!
It is also time for concerned organizations to unite in one massive effort, to band together and say “Enough!” There is not time for the silent majority to wait for “someone else” to do the work. REAL Women, alone, will not have half the impact that could be marshalled by a coalition of pro-family groups. I invite these groups to join forces, to speak as one. We cannot wait, for there is little time left to use. The time is NOW.
If Christians continue to remain isolated within their churches, this is the alternative offered us by one group. As it appeared in the February 15, 1987 edition of Boston’s Gay Community News, we are given a glimpse of the hidden homosexual agenda. It reads as follows:
“We shall sodomize your sons, emblems of your feeble masculinity, of your shallow dreams and vulgar lies. We shall seduce them in our schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms, in your sorts arenas, in your seminaries, in you youth groups, in your movie theatre bathrooms, in your army bunkhouses, in your truck stops, in all-male clubs, in your houses of Congress, wherever men are with men together. Your sons shall become our minions and do our bidding. They will be recast in our image. They will come to crave and adore us.
“The family unit – spawning ground of lies, betrayals, mediocrity, hypocrisy, and violence will be abolished. The family unit, which only dampens imagination and curbs free will, must be eliminated. Perfect boys will be conceived and grown in the genetic laboratory. They will be bonded together in communal setting, under the control and instruction of homosexual savants.
“All churches who condemn us will be closed. Our only gods are handsome young men. We adhere to a cult of beauty, moral and aesthetic. All that is ugly and vulgar and banal will be annihilated…If you dare to cry ‘faggot, fairy, queer’ at us, we will stab you in your cowardly hearts and defile your dead, puny bodies.”
Was Justin correct…Does anyone really care?
