A month after his wife Ann began breast cancer treatment last fall, head of the Hemlock Society and the best known euthanasia advocate in the U.S.A., left her and thereby shook the confidence of his organization, American Life League (ALL) News for March 6 reports.

Humphry was removed from Hemlock’s board in early January, although he continues to hold office as the group’s chief operating officer. Mrs. Humphry is expected to make a complete recovery from the cancer, but admits she had “distanced” herself from her husband in recent years. “I was tired of the world of death and dying,” she said. Mr. Humphry helped his first wife commit suicide in 1975 when she had terminal breast cancer.
