I have been very busy recently I had not written an article for the March Issue of The Interim. But, when I read the shameful attacks on Bishop Fred Henry in the secular newspapers my conscience took over and I decided to stay up late and write in defence of His Lordship. Bishop Henry’s defence of “True marriage” is not based only on the teaching of the Catholic Church, it is based on the Bible and goes back hundreds of years before Christ. So, I am quoting not from a “Catholic” Edition of the Bible but from the new King James version which is Protestant, published for Kenneth Copeland Ministries by Thomas Nelson Publishers of Nashville (1980).

From Leviticus 18:14: “I am the Lord. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”

Leviticus 20:13: “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”

St. Paul to the Romans, 1:26: “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”

St. Paul to the Corinthians (I) 6: 9-10: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, not adulterers nor homosexuals nor sodomites will inherit the Kingdom of God.”

As I said earlier these quotations are taken from a Protestant edition of the Bible. The Catholic edition is exactly the same; here is a quotation from the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1994) on the subject of homosexuality: “Homosexuality refers to relations between men and between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that homosexuals are intrinsically disordered. They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. Under no circumstances can their life style be approved.”

I would like to take the occasion to congratulate Bishop Henry for his firm stand on Catholic teaching. In the same sentence I must firmly condemn our “Catholic” Prime Minister. If he were to kneel before me for Holy Communion

I would have no hesitation in passing him by
