Alliance for Life is in the midst of planning stages to launch a nationwide television broadcast which will bring the pro-life message into the homes of all Canadians. The event, in telethon format, is scheduled to air on prime time national television October 5 through 11.
The telethon will emphasize the theme of coping and carrying a baby to term. Testimonials and documentary style interviews will be interspersed with fund-raising advertising. Phone lines will be open to accept donation pledges and counseling will be provided for callers who are pregnant and distressed. (Counseling to be done by Birthright) A host of well-known personalities are expected to make guest appearances: Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa, Jean Vanier, Corazon Aquino, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Anne Murray, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, and Tammy Wynette to mention only a few.
Karen Pascal, of windborne, best-known for her World Vision productions, will be the program producer. Frank Denardis Vice-president and General Manager of CHCH-TV has agreed to review the scripts.
