Saturday, May 14, 1988 Calgary Pro-Life Association held its 8th annual fund raising Hike for Life.
The walk was blessed with a sunny but windy day. Approximately 600 hikers pledged nearly $40 000; but over 1000 people of all ages participated this year. The amounts collected enable Calgary Pro-Life to continue its increasingly popular teacher/resource programme for another year.
St. Rose of Lima Junior High School band helped to entertain the hikers before the official kick-off at 10:00 a.m. Richard and Linda Maas, sang the beautiful and touching “Cry of the Unborn,” by Paul Coates and Tim Crawley. A quintette from St. Francis High School Pro-Life Team, sand their own life Team song. Father Tom Mohan and Rev. Al Hunsperger lead the gathered crowd in prayer. Piper Robert McLauchlan than led the hikers off on their 10km walk.
