Recently Pope John Paul II and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) expressed support for the pro-life movement.  The statements are presented here side by side, readers may want to compare them.  The CCCB statement expresses the desire to emphasize the love needed to promote respect for life.  Without mentioning the pro-life movement by name, it recognizes its three-fold division of service, education and political action, noting that education should also pay attention to unacceptable make attitudes towards women.

The Pope’s address is direct and personal.  He notes that attacks and opposition against the pro-life movement, the need for courage to stand up for truth, and the necessity of focusing on specific problems caused by a modern anti-life mentality and philosophy.
