Rose: To the 12 Ontario provincial NDP members who voted against Bill 167 which would have granted benefits to same-sex couples. A special rose should also go out to Toronto Archbishop Aloysius Ambrozic who spearheaded a letter writing campaign in Catholic Churches urging MPPs to vote no to Bill 167. Despite heavy criticism from the press, Ambrozic and many other Ontario Catholic Bishops did not back down in this contentious issue.

Thorn: The mayor media outlets which pushed so heavily for the passage of Bill 167. During the debate the media continuously published only one side of the debate and never once allowed that those in opposition to same-sex benefits were anything but homophobic, fanatical bigots. The Toronto Star was, as usual, the worst offender in this all-out attack on the family.
