Stafford, VA.Paul Brown, chief executive officer of the American Life League, stated he has not backed away from his request – originally made of President Reagan on January 22 – for a review of the sentences assigned in abortuary-related cases.  Brown pointed out that the average sentence in nine abortion-related convictions in the past 12 months has been 15 years, 3 months – while the median sentence for rape is only 10 years.

Citing a special report of the U.S. Department of Justice, Brown reported that the average sentence for all violent crimes – including murder, rape and manslaughter was less than 10 years and the average time served for these same violent offences was les than three years.

“Why the leniency for the most violent crimes against persons and the “extra measure” in those few cases where mere buildings were damaged? Asked Brown.
