TORONTO- Hopes for another pro-life Progressive Conservative candidate were dashed April 19 with the defeat of Phil Horgan in the Etobicoke-Lakeshore nomination.

Horgan, vice-president of the Catholic Civil Rights League and past president of the Thomas More Lawyers’ Guild, lost by seven votes to Charles Donley in the closely-fought contest. His nomination and possible election would have added a vibrant pro-life voice to Parliament.

His defeat underscores the extra effort required of ordinary pro-lifers in backing pro-family candidates.
