Both Alliance for Life and Campaign Life Coalition have hired new Ottawa staff members to continue a pro-life presence in Ottawa.

Nancy Jahn, Alliance for Life’s new Federal Liaison Officer was vice-president of the pro-life group in Arnprior, just west of Ottawa.  She has several years’ experience on Parliament Hill as both secretary and assistant to Members of Parliament.  The liaison officer position involves educating MPs on life issues and providing background and resources needed by MPs for speeches and debates.

The Alliance position was previously held by Sue Hierlihy who has moved to Campaign Life Coalition to coordinate lobbying efforts in the Ottawa office.

Campaign Life Coalition has hired a new English-speaking lobbyist, Karen Murawsky.  Murawsky has 15 years’ experience in the pro-life movement; she was first vice-president of Alliance for Life and served two terms on the Board of Directors.  She was also president of Action Life Ottawa for several years and later became the organization’s first executive director.

Murawsky will work with Gilles Grondin, Campaign Life Coalition’s Quebec lobbyist and Acting Executive Director.  Former Executive Director Frank Foley left the organization at the end of the year for personal reasons.

The Ottawa lobbyists will work closely with Members of Parliament in drafting pro-life legislation and determining pro-life strength in Parliament.
