It seemed apparent, therefore, that the next move was the organization – on a national basis- of a national umbrella group called “Canadian Advocates for Human Life.” The purpose of the national body will be to coordinate and encourage the development of provincial chapters of pro-life lawyers, as well as to :

  1. assemble lawyers together to discuss pro-life issues;
  2. lend credibility to lawyers active in the pro-life field;
  3. serve as a source of action groups to form on an ad hoc basis to deal with specific issues as they arise;
  4. exchange ideas and to assist in the forming of opinions, particularly of legal issues;
  5. sponsor speakers and conferences and to prepare a national newsletter.

With this in mind, a provisional committee of lawyers was established which met in Toronto on May 28th. At this meeting, it was agreed that the founding meeting of the Canadian Advocates for Human Life should take place at the same time and place as the annual meeting of the Canadian Bar Association, which is to be held this year at the Chateau Frontenac in August in Quebec City. The actual date and place of the founding meeting, therefore, is set for the Chateau Frontenac on Tuesday, August 30th, at 9:00 a.m.

Anyone interested in obtaining further information about the Canadian Advocates for Human Life, or about the proposed founding meeting of the organization, please contact the secretary of the provisional committee:
