Euthanasia bill dies
Ottawa: Robert Wenman’s euthanasia bill died in Committee on February 18. The bill, described as “dangerous” because of much vague wording allowing multiple interpretations, was sponsored by Robert Wenman, Conservative MP for Fraser Valley West, BC.

Ottawa: NDP Dawn Black’s Motion asking for more federal funding for Planned Parenthood was defeated in the House of Commons 95 to 35, Monday, February 24, 1992.
Liberals slam pro-life
Hull, PQ. The Federal Liberal Policy Convention meeting in Hull, PQ, from Feb. 17-23 did everything it could to deny all influence to members known as Liberals for Life.
In May 1969, Pierre Trudeau’s Liberal Party was responsible for legalizing violence against unborn babies in Canada. Ever since, the party leadership, first under Trudeau and John Turner, at present under leader Jean Chrétien and deputy leader Sheila Copps, have carried through pro-abortion and anti-family policies.
In Hull a two-thirds majority pushed through internal control mechanisms and resolutions to silence the pro-lifers once for all. It was done under the guise of needing to “clean up” nominations, end “abuses,” stop “fake Grits,” halt “instant liberals,” and “cleansing the party” (Chrétien).
In reality Liberals for Life represent an attempt by long time Liberals, many of them Catholics, to recover the party’s integrity on the issue of the dignity of life and the human person.
Ireland
Dublin: On February 26, Ireland’s Supreme Court overturned a lower court decision prohibiting a 14 year-old girl from going to England for an abortion. (See “Alarm bells ring for Irish pro-life,” p. 14)
