Saturday, February 26th, was the day 100,000 glossy red pamphlets appeared across Canada, sponsored by Campaign Life Canada.

The pamphlet titled the facts every Canadian should know about abortion clinics, is a sharply done affair with considerable amounts of information contained in its four small pages. The flyer compiled excerpts from two recent television interviews with Dr. Bernard Nathanson on CTV’s Canada AM, and with abortionist Henry Morgentaler in debate on CHCH TV’s Cherington. Both shows were very successful, and were also arranged by Campaign Life.

Information, not readily available through the media, was finally given to the general public, who have been unaware of most of the abortion issues facts due to unfavourable press. Facts such as Morgentaler’s per diem income, the findings of Time magazine’s own investigation into abortion clinics in the States, and the quality of Morgentaler’s thinking concerning the unborn, were clearly presented. In keeping with Campaign Life’s tradition of faultless fact fighting, each remark was documented and unemotional.

The move was part of an overall effort to inform the public of the reality behind the people and thinking in the pro-abortion ranks in spite of media bias which includes omission of any pro-life group letters to the editor, generally non-extant coverage of pro-life activities with extensive coverage of pro-abortion activities.

Combined with the new television commercial campaign featuring Dr. Nathanson, made in association with Gerretson Productions and the Manitoba League for Life, the pamphlet may become a highly effective step in persuading the public to listen to both sides.

At press time, it isn’t possible to say how well the pamphleting was received, but if it resembles the impact of past such efforts the boat will rock.

Tories for Life at Winnipeg Progressive Conservative Convention

Tories for Life once again emphasized the importance of the abortion issue to Progressive Conservative National Convention delegates and encouraged the party to take a definite Pro-life stand.

Delegate Stephen Jalsevac and his helpers handed out 1,000 Tones for Life flyers and buttons and were amazed at the enthusiastic support that they received from a high percentage of convention participants. Interestingly, the greatest support came from youth delegates -and delegates from Quebec and rural areas. Many new Tories for Life members were signed up during the convention.

The human life issue was discussed with some of the candidates standing for election to party positions and several of the more prominent P.C. M.P’s expressed their support for the Tories for Life position. Mr. Jalsevac was somewhat short of workers and hopes that many Pro-life P.C. party members will lend a hand at the very important leadership convention to be held in Ottawa the weekend of June 12th.
