In our March issue, under the heading “sociologists confirm what many already knew,” the Interim reported the Newsweek Magazine (January 14) poll as follows:
- 21 percent of Americans favour abortion on demand
- 21 percent favour banning abortion under all circumstances
- 50 percent would favour banning abortions except for rape, incest and danger to the mother’s life.
This last percentage should read 58 percent.
In other words, 79 percent of all Americans-according to Newsweek-reject abortion on demand and abortion for social-economic reasons.
