Men are just as traumatized by abortion as women, says a new study released at the annual conference of the American Sociological Association. (Medical News, November 22 1984) The study found that 69 per cent of the men wanted to be with their partner during the abortion;91 per cent wanted to be in the recovery room. 17 per cent were so upset by their abortion experience that they were uncertain that they ever wanted to be faced with another pregnancy.
The study’s authors interviewed 1000 men between the ages of 18 and 35. 60 per cent were single, 22 per cent were living with their partners and 18 per cent were married.
