The leaders of Canada and the United States both tweeted in support of Planned Parenthood as the world’s largest abortion organization marked its 100th anniversary.
On Oct. 16, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted a photo of himself with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards with “warmest congratulations” to the organization.
Trudeau’s tweet garnered more than 11,000 “likes” and nearly 4,000 retweets.
The same day President Barack Obama tweeted that Planned Parenthood allows women “to determine their own lives.” The tweet was “liked” more than 100,000 times by Obama’s followers and retweeted 35,000 times.
Campaign Life Coalition national president Jim Hughes told The Interim it was telling that neither Trudeau nor Obama mentioned the word abortion or acknowledged the human toll of the abortion giant. According to Planned Parenthood’s 2015 annual report, the organization committed 323,999 abortions in the United States.
Hughes also said the President and Prime Minister’s tweets “ignored the organ trafficking scandal that embroiled Planned Parenthood just one year ago.”
