Just working girls

Alexandre Highcrest, the AIDS-Educator with the Toronto-based Prostitutes for Sage Sex Project (PSSP), writes in the most recent issue of The New Facts of Life, the newsletter of the Canadian Public Health Association:

“We advocate a positive attitude towards sex, sexuality, and sex trade workers, and we’re constantly trying to educate the public as to the realities of these self-employed entrepreneurs. Prostitution is simply work, and we who work as whores are no different from those you who don’t. We just have a different job.

Pass or fail?

Weeks before exams, students at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, in the fall of 1990 were asked to pass another kind of test. Trent’s AIDS Coordinator handed out packages of condoms and a scoring ballot. The students were invited to play with them, use them and report back the following week.

Feminists have the ‘NAC’

Radical feminist groups, the National Action Committee (NAC) among them, like to depict themselves are being on the margins of society – impoverished, oppressed and misunderstood. Nothing could be further from the truth. An apparently indestructible umbilical cord of money and power connects these groups to the established institutions of government and big business.

As a case in point, the Bank of Montreal (one of Canada’s largest) recently granted NAC a special MasterCard. Each time a member uses the credit card, the Bank of Montreal makes a financial contribution to NAC’s work for “women’s reproductive choice.”

SOUTH OF THE BORDER

No shell-out

October 31, 1990, Hallowe’en, a lopsided majority of the Supreme Court threw out the request of International Planned Parenthood to extend the deadline for its contract with the federal government. Now the world’s largest abortion provider must abide by the Reagan/Bush ban on funding for organizations that back child killing in the Third World.

Euthanasia laid bare

At an April 1990 conference of medical ethicists in Washington, Dr. Richard Fenigsen of the Willem-Alexander Hospital in Holland exposed the real purpose of euthanasia.

“The fundamental question about euthanasia: whether it is a libertarian movement for human freedom and the right of choice, or an aggressive drive to exterminate the weak, the old, and the different, this question can now be answered. It is both.”

The master race

Astronomer and science popularizer, Carl Sagan, proposed in the spring 1990 issue of Parade magazine that in the best of all worlds, the ‘abortion controversy’ would be settled on the basis of keen intelligence.

In such a world, the pre-born and the newborn, but also most of us would be subhuman. People with the highest intelligence, like Carl Sagan for example, would be the most human.

Abortionist v. Ex-abortionist

Until recently, pro-abortion groups haven’t responded to the damage inflicted on them by the video “Meet the Abortion Providers.”  Produced by Joe Scheidler’s Pro-Life Action League, the video spotlights ex-abortionists who know the scandal of child killing first-hand. Now a New Jersey-based pro-abortion group is acknowledging “Meet the Abortion Providers.”
