This year, Mother’s Day will be marked with a different format. Laura McArthur, President of Toronto Right to Life, said, “We’ve consistently shown the strength of the pro-life movement in Ontario over the years. Last October, the 40,000 who walked for life past Morgentaler’s clinic could not be ignored. This Mother’s Day, our stand will be different.”

With the theme in mind that “it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness,” Toronto Right to Life is organizing a silent candlelight walk for the eve of Mother’s Day. Pro-lifers will gather at City Hall on Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. on May 12. There will be a brief welcome and singalong while people gather. The crowd will then walk up University Avenue and walk silently past Toronto General and Mount Sinai hospitals before dispersing. Other candlelight walks are being planned across the province.

The pro-abortionists are planning a demonstration for Mother’s Day itself. The Ontario Coalition for Abortion Clinics (OCAC), organizers for Morgentaler’s clinics in Ontario, have obtained permission for a rally at Queen’s Park in Toronto. Laura McArthur says, “what a mockery it is that those who wish to destroy the unborn have chosen the traditional day we honour motherhood to restate their position.”
