The Interim is sponsoring an essay contest for students under 18. Entries will be judged according to age. There are 5 categories: up to 10 years; 10 to 12 years; 12 to 14 years; 14 to 16 years; 16 to 17 years.
There is a first prize of $50, which will be awarded to the winner in each of the five age groups. A second prize of $25 will be awarded in each age group.
The essay topic is any area of concern to pro-life. The writer may wish to discuss his or her personal views; the kind of dilemma faced when trying to explain pro-life issues to friends who disagree; and so on.
Entries should be roughly 500 to 1,000 words’ length. They should be double-spaced and either typewritten or legibly handwritten. Please indicate which age group your entry is eligible for. The deadline for entries is May 31, 1984. Winners will be announced in the July issue of The Interim and the winning essay in each age group will be published.
Entries will be judged by a panel consisting of members of the editorial board of The Interim and selected writers and teachers. The judges reserve the right not to award prizes in any age groups if entries are not of a high enough standard.
