Pro-lifers across Ontario are now able to get up-to-the moment news and information via a new pro-life telephone hotline.  The hotline has been set up by Campaign Life Canada, together with its Ontario co-ordinators, as an experiment.  If successful, the hotline will be developed into a national news and information service.

Inspiration for the telephone hotline came from a similar service established by U.S. pro-life activist Joe Scheidler, who operates a telephone news and information service in Chicago.

According to Campaign Life president Jim Hughes, the Ontario service will consist of a recorded message covering pro-life news, as well as announcements of important upcoming events in individual communities.

The type of information communicated through the hotline is virtually unlimited.  “The hotline can be used to make political announcement during an election, to announce dates and places of special events such as pickets and rallies, or simply to organize letter writing campaigns,” said Mr. Hughes.

Without question, the most effective use of the hotline will be to communicate news items which are often ignored, or reported too briefly by the mass media.

Pro-lifers across Canada are encouraged to use the service.  The number is easy enough to remember, so there’s no excuse for not calling.  Just dial (416) 367-5433 (FOR LIFE).
