Another manifestation of the money-crunch being felt in Alberta is that some hospitals have stopped doing pre-natal tests.  The January 23 Western Report notes that the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) has ended doing tests to determine whether a child has Down Syndrome.  These tests were carried out at $70.00 per test and often culminated in abortion if the test results were “unsatisfactory.”  Pro-life doctors have always maintained that these pre-natal tests were simply “search and destroy” missions to eliminate any baby who had any abnormality.  Pro-life groups hope that as the availability of pre-natal testing lessens, so too will the occurrence of genetic abortions.
