The American Life League’s newsletter communiqué reports that Alice Ruiz Hanna who owns an abortuary in Orange County, Florida, has been sentenced to 16 years to life in prison for causing the death of Angela Sanchez.  Sanchez, a mother of four, was killed along with her baby during the abortion.  ****  Thomas Tucker, the practitioner who performed more than 7,000 abortions annually in Mississippi has had his license revoked.  When he does lose it, it will leave Mississippi a virtually abortion-free state.  Tucker was found guilty on 32 counts, which included unprofessional conduct and mishandling prescription drugs.  The abortionist earlier had his Alabama license revoked.  ****  Emma Bonino, the 47-year-old European Union Fisheries representative who is fighting with Canada over off-shore fishing rights, is best known for spearheading a 1970s signature campaign which eventually forced the Italian government to legalize abortion.  ****  Hospital residency programs in obstetrics and gynecology will be required to train medical students to perform abortions or risk losing their accreditation.  The Washington-based Family Research Council’s newsletter Washington Watch, reports that this decision was supported by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists whose directors are obviously worried about the decreasing number of doctors who are choosing to become abortionists.  This decision also raises fears that doctors will someday be forced to perform abortions against their will.  As of 1991, only 12 per cent of all U.S. residency programs were teaching abortion procedures.
