Henry Morgentaler expected 300 physicians to attend his conference on new abortion techniques. He got 39 – even though he dropped his fee from $750 to $350. The conference was held at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto the last weekend in May. A dozen pro-life demonstrators were out to protest. One of them, Dan McCash, said, “It’s a beautiful flop.” Morgentaler is said to have lost about $40 000 on the two-day event.

That even 39 doctors present however, is bad enough, said McCash. Medicine used to pride itself on saving lives. How many lives will 39 abortionists terminate a year?

Campaign Life Coalition has urged a boycott for group events and personal use of the instruction in the killing of unborn babies to take place in its facilities.

Jim Hughes, Campaign Life Coalition president, called for a Westin boycott after hotel manager Ulrich Wall said that First Canadian Conference on Abortion Techniques was a legal venture and was considered an acceptable client for the Westin. Westin has six hotels in Canada, 31 in the United States and 24 in 11 other countries.
