The shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood facility was déjà vu all over again. There was the obligatory condemnation of the murder by an allegedly anti-abortion activist and the usual scapegoating of the entire pro-life movement by pro-abortion activists and politicians and their allies in the media.

We join the chorus of pro-lifers condemning the violence at the abortion facility. It is wrong to take the life of an innocent human being. It goes without saying that this is a foundational belief of pro-life. The killing of innocent bystanders does nothing to advance the cause of life and betrays the very idea of being pro-life. Time and time again these incidents are found to be carried out by lone individuals with no ties to mainstream pro-life groups. We understand the frustration these individuals feel about the grave injustice of abortion, but condemn their violent means to express their outrage at prenatal homicide.

We also condemn the opportunistic blaming of the pro-life movement to silence any criticism of abortion. The goal of the abortion industry and their political and media allies is not to save the lives of abortionists (none of whom were harmed in the Colorado Springs shooting), but to end the abortion debate. Pro-life speech does not lead to anti-abortion violence. Individuals are responsible for their own actions.

We unequivocally condemn killing.

We also condemn the pro-abortion movement for using violent tragedies to insist the abortion industry go unscrutinized.
