Feminist and former Toronto Star columnist Michelle Landsberg was named to the Order of Canada by Governor-General Michaelle Jean in July. Landsberg is just the latest outspoken advocate of abortion to be given Canada’s highest civilian honour.

Few pro-life advocates are similarly honoured. It is a shame that this person, who has so often viciously attacked those whom she has criticized – so blatantly that she has been called to account by the Ontario Press Council numerous times – has been given this recognition by the governor-general.

We doubt that pro-life journalists such as the Toronto Sun’s Michael Coren, the London Free Press’s Rory Leishman or the Edmonton Sun’s Ted Byfield would ever be awarded the Order of Canada, precisely because they are pro-life.
