Pro-life journalist and broadcaster Michael Coren will be the guest speaker at this year’s Campaign Life Coalition fund-raising dinner/dance, at 7 p.m. April 18 at St. John the Evangelist parish, 49 George St., Weston, Ontario.

Author, speaker and activist Father Ted Colleton is also expected to attend the popular pro-life event

The $20 ticket includes a dinner catered by Johnny’s Country Kitchen, and music supplied by DJ Peter Green.

The annual fund-raising dinner/dance, hosted by St. John’s parish community and the Catholic Women’s League, has proven to be an important fund-raising venue for Campaign Life Coalition.

The event also provides a positive morale boost for Toronto-area pro-life workers and supporters.

The evening will include a raffle for a dinner and cruise on Lake Ontario, plus door prizes and a 50/50 draw.

The choice of Michael Coren is an inspired one for this year’s dinner/dance. The host of a popular radio show program on CFRB radio, Coren is a rare pro-life voice in mainstream media.

His articles in the Toronto Sun/Financial Post publications, as well as some of his broadcasts, often discuss pro-life themes. He has invited pro-life prisoner of conscience Linda Gibbons on his Coren’s pro-life position has drawn criticism from many of his media colleagues, including representatives of the Ontario Press Council.

The council censured Coren last fall for his opinion column criticizing UNICEF for promoting abortion and contraception services in the Third World. Coren later felt vindicate when the Vatican suspended its annual contribution to UNICEF in protest against those same practices.
