For over a year, David Little had been in communication with Mother Teresa.  She accepted his invitation to attend a pro-life rally at the Coliseum in Moncton on July 3, 1983.

But Mother Teresa became ill and the Pope ordered her into the hospital to recover.  Recover she did, and the correspondence and communication with David Little continued.

Mother Teresa is the head of the Missionaries of Charity, based in Calcutta.  She is a woman many believe to be a living saint.

David Little was featured in a full-page story in the April issue of the Interim. He is the chief executive of the Catholic Foundation for Human Life, an organization that has a goal of one home for distressed pregnant women for every hospital abortuary and abortion clinic across North America.  Just to aim that high, David Little needed help, assistance he has since received from Mother Teresa.  She has not yet come to Canada on the invitation of Mr. Little, but last month he went to Rome at her request.

They met in her Rome convent, among the poorest of the poor, where they spoke and prayed together for more than three hours.

Apart from the logistics of the operation of the Catholic Foundation for Human Life, Mr. Little says they talked of many things from personal matters to spiritual ones.  But just to speak with Mother Teresa is a spiritual matter.  Mother Teresa said:

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not yet, God gives us only today.  The cause of so much disharmony, loss of peace, family break-up, tension and pain in families throughout the world is abortion.  This work is first in the mind of God right now.  Abortion is destroying the family, it is the great destroyer of peace.  Everything must be done to bring back respect for life in the womb, respect for life in its beginnings.

Jesus is in the womb.  What you have done in Canada and America and other places is very beautiful for God.

David  Little and Mother Teresa talked between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., pausing to pray the Rosary together.  At noon, the Angelus Bell rang and they went together and prayed the Angelus.

Before he left her, Mother Teresa promised to help the Catholic Foundation for Human Life.  Indeed, at one point, Mother Teresa turned to David Little and said, “God is good, God is good (a phrase she used repeatedly).  We will do something beautiful for God together.”
