There is a new proposal to decriminalize (in effect, to legalize) euthanasia in Holland. Dutch pro-life groups expect that it will be presented to the Dutch Parliament in April. They are very concerned that they will not be able to stop it on their own. They are asking for your help in the following ways:
- Send a letter of concern to the President of the Dutch Parliament, the Dutch Prime Minister and the Queen of the Netherlands, and have as many of your members as possible do the same
- Deliver a protest to the Dutch embassy in your country and, if appropriate, arrange a picket or protest march outside.
- Write directly to the Prime Minister, the Head of State and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and ask them to:
– protest directly to the Dutch Government;
– raise the matter at the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva. (In Canada this may not be very effective. Options 1 and 2 are better.)
Please treat this task with the utmost urgency as this may be the last chance we have to stop such a dangerous precedent. Holland should be warned that, if it passes such legislation, it will be ostracized from the community of civilized nations.
