REAL Women of Canada, a pro-life women’s organization that supports traditional family values, was invited by the federal government to nominate potential recipients of the Diamond Jubilee Medal.

REAL Women recommend 33 people under the “social and volunteer” category to receive the medal, which commemorates Queen Elizabeth’s 60th anniversary as Queen of Canada. The Globe and Mail reported that no pro-gay groups were invited to nominate recipients and there was an ensuing outcry among homosexual activists against REAL Women. “The bile they spew on their website is so offensive, said Matt Salton, programming director of Reelout, a Kingston, Ont., gay film festival. “It’s just as far as I’m concerned hate, and they should have no part in (the Jubilee medals) whatsoever.”

REAL Women said in its March newsletter REALity, “We are deeply grateful for this invitation. It is nice to know that we have been honoured in this way for our contribution to Canadian Society.”
