John Couretas of The Observer, the blog of the American Orthodox Institute, notes that Metropolitan Bartholomeis of Chalcedon has said some fairly “unorthodox” things regarding the sanctity of life. In 1990, the Greek Orthodox patriarch said: “We are not allowed to enter the bedrooms of the Christian couples. We cannot generalize. There are many reasons for a couple to go toward abortion.” As Couretas says, it is a scandal.
