The National Post reported the Prime Minister will vote against Roxanne’s Law when it comes before Parliament and will recommend the Conservative caucus do likewise although the vote will not be whipped. A spokesman for the Liberals said that they won’t whip the vote either, although not many Liberals are expected to support the private member’s bill to outlaw coercing a woman into having an abortion. And predictably, the NDP is expected to all line up against the bill. It is pathetic that while discussion of abortion is increasing in this country, the political class still is afraid to tackle the issue, even something as seemingly benign as coming out against coercing women into having an abortion; that is something you would think pro-life and “pro-choice” people could agree on.
