LifeSiteNews.com reports that Sophia at the Abortion Gang blog suggested readers donate $5 or $10 to a local pro-abortion group every time Tim Tebow scores a touchdown. Considering Tebow’s public Christian and pro-life witness, I applaud their sense of humour and ingenuity, but what is it about Tim Tebow that elicits the reaction he does. His team is doing well and depending on the football metric he is either pretty darn good (83.9 Passer Rating, 11:2 TDs to interception ratio, few turnovers)  or pretty darn lucky (a 7-1 record despite completing less than 50% of his passes, averaging only 117.3 passing yards per game in the modern NFL). Earlier this year Tebow was asked by Hall of Fame cornerback and NFL Network diva Deion Sanders why he generates so much controversy: “Is it your arm motion, your faith?” I don’t think the pro-aborts at the Abortion Gang blog care much about Tebow’s odd throwing mechanics.

I also find it odd that Christian pro-lifers who don’t care a lick about football are following Tebow closely and have strong opinions about his football prowess. Considering that we have made him a hero of sorts — and watching how this young man comports himself on and off the field, he makes a fine hero — it is no wonder that the pro-abortion crowd has appropriated Tebow for their own purposes. Perhaps the best response is not to condemn these abortion advocates for using the Denver Broncos quarterback, but to follow their lead: every time Tebow scores a touchdown, donate $10 to a local pro-life group.
