The Moral Question of Abortion by Stephen Schwary is an excellent book. The author is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Rhode Island and a pro-life activist. He deals with every aspect of the abortion issue, arguing in great detail that the child in the womb is a human being from the moment of conception. He devotes a chapter to showing that abortion is impermissible even in a case of rape and another to the horror of abortion, showing the need for us to get the U.S. and Canada to recognize this horror.
Particularly useful is the chapter on what penalties should be legislated for women obtaining abortions, and for their “doctors.” And pro-lifers will benefit especially from a final chapter on strategy for the future.
The Moral Question of Abortion is published by Loyola Press, 1990, 290 pages, Hardcover, $14.95 (U.S. funds).
