John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has excited the conservative base of the Republican Party, just as much for who she is as what she believes in. Not only does she talk the pro-life talk, she walks it, too. Earlier this year, she gave birth to her fifth child, who was diagnosed in utero with Down’s Syndrome. More than four-in-five women in such cirmcumstances kill the unborn child, but not Palin, who has taken the opportunity to highlight the plight of the weakest among us.

Others do not share her compassion and commitment. One Democrat sarcastically attacked McCain’s choice as only being qualified because she didn’t have an abortion. And as we note on page three, a Canadian doctor is worried about the life-affirming example she provides.

May Palin’s example shine the light of truth in these dark times.
