Late news flashes

Ottawa, Monday, July 11.  In a surprise, last minute, move the government suddenly called off its procedural debate that was to clear the way for further discussion of abortion of the three pro-abortion versions to be selected later that week. Deputy House Leader Douglas Lewis claimed to have read opposition arguments against the procedure only on the weekend before.  The motion took [...]

Pro-Life efforts Shattered

All MPs, including those who still have some religious convictions, are “off the hook” on the abortion question.  They can now vote for the renewed legalization of abortion as proposed by Prime Minister Mulroney, as long as they vote for Amendment A.  This, at least, is the opinion of the Permanent Council of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) in Ottawa, [...]

UPDATE Sodomy

Toronto: Metro Toronto “celebrated” its eighth annual Lesbian and Gay Pride Day on Sunday, June 26.  Guest of honour was Vancouver homosexual MP Svend Robinson, who spoke at the Metropolitan Community “church”, which claims to find justification for sodomy in Christianity. Robinson and lesbian Karen Andrews rode in a 1968 Olds convertible as grand marshals of the parade which counted over 10,000 [...]

THE EDITORIAL: The fourth time

It is with great sadness that we must report that the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has missed the opportunity to defend the unborn child once again.  For the fourth time in 20 years – 1968, 1980-81, 1987 and 1988, the CCCB has let the unborn infants down.  (See front page stories.)  Each time this has happened for slightly different reasons.  [...]

Press Release CLC

TEXT 3 Campaign Life Coalition is deeply disappointed by the position taken by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on the abortion options of the Mulroney government.  In a letter received by Members of Parliament and Senators today, the CCCB implies that support for Amendment “A”, as the least objectionable of the three proposals before Parliament, is necessary in the absence of [...]
