Those of you following the ongoing saga of free speech and open debate on abortion here in the People’s Republic of British Columbia should not be at all surprised at the recent pronouncement by Vancouver Crown Council. You know, the folks ordained by the powers that be to see that the Criminal Code of Canada is enforced.

Well it seems that police dropped off a file detailing the attack on a pro-life display at the University of British Columbia, perpetrated by a gaggle of pro-choice supporters. The material included some lovely video footage that has also been posted on the Internet, showing how tolerant and free-speech-loving members of B.C.’s pro-choice movement handle rational argument and debate.

Rather expectantly, the advocates for truth and justice declined to see justice done, and ruled that there would be no criminal code charge – not that there was not ample evidence of what had been done to the pro-life Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) display, but that laying charges would “not be in the public interest.”

But some background is in order.

In 1995, the NDP government set up a top-secret abortion advocacy organization called the Abortion Services Working Group. This group was given the sacred mandate of seeing access to abortion services preserved and promoted throughout the land.

Given the government’s support of abortion rights, stacking this “working group” of Santa’s little helpers with the political and activist wing of the abortion industry would not surprise anyone.

But there is an ominous aspect to this story.

There, at the table sits representatives of the B.C. Ministry of Attorney General.

Having tea and crumpets with the ministry that overseas the enforcement of Canada’s criminal code are representatives of the Canadian Abortion Rights Action League.

Gabbing over a cup of hot java with representatives of the Police Services Division of the Ministry of Attorney General is the BC Pro-Choice Action Network.

And who could forget the involvement of the Vancouver Police Department.

Simply put, it’s no wonder charges were not laid in the attack on pro-life students at the University of British Columbia. How silly to think that anyone could even possibly be charged from B.C.’s pro-choice movement, when so many of them sit at a table with so many in law enforcement positions, planning their strategy to eliminate all public opposition to abortion in the worker’s paradise!

I took the matter of the attorney general’s involvement in the task force to the top. I was informed just this month that their involvement is “necessary in order to provide advice and direction to the Abortion Service Provider Protection Program and to ensure accountability for the funds provided.”

Did I mention that in fiscal year 1998-99, the Ministry of the Attorney General granted $10,000 to the B.C. Pro-Choice Action Network? A group, I might add, that does not legally exist? A group that is largely a political lobby group?

Imagine, a group that has publicly excused the pro-choice use of violence directed at pro-lifers, sits at a table with the chief law enforcement arm of government!

It is painfully obvious that the proletariat and their supporters that govern our province have learned nothing from their mistakes in the past. It seems like only yesterday when Colin Gabelmann, then attorney general for British Columbia, was caught swearing a false affidavit relating to the abortion controversy. He refused to resign and sent future law students and upholders of the rule of law a valuable lesson: When it comes to abortion politics, the chief law enforcement arm of government can and will be used to enforce a partisan political purpose.

But I digress.

When at a Students for Choice rally last fall, a call was made to use violence against any appearance of a pro-life display at UBC, both Joyce Arthur of the Pro-Choice Action Network and Joy MacPhail, now deputy premier of our province, were silent. Despite the fact they spoke immediately after the incitement to riot, their silence was deafening – and a learning experience.

Arthur and the Pro-Choice Action Network have publicly excused the attack on pro-lifers by blaming the pro-lifers for spreading “hate.” As Arthur stated in a recent Vancouver Sun essay (regarding the pro-choice use of violence): “It’s about public safety and the spread of hate propaganda. ”

Arthur added: “These students were personally outraged by GAP’s hate propaganda – their actions came from the heart, not from any conspiracy.” Sadly, it would appear that Crown council and the Ministry of the Attorney General agree. They have so corrupted the role of law enforcement in this worker’s paradise that one wonders in amazement that pro-lifers have any rights at all.

The question on everyone’s mind is this: Was GAP ever discussed at the table of the Abortion Services Working Group? And if so, did the attorney general’s representatives excuse themselves? Did Vancouver City Police excuse themselves? Or did they all agreeably listen to the rants of the Canadian Abortion Rights Action League and the government funded Pro-Choice Action Network – proclaiming that the pro-life students at UBC are “enemies of the people”? Curious minds would like to know.
