Ontario to fund an abortion franchise for Ottawa area

Taxpayers to foot the half million a year bill Ottawa will be the site of Ontario’s newest free-standing abortion facility and Henry Morgentaler will in all probability be its operator.  The news comes as no surprise to Eastern Ontario pro-lifers who have been fighting the establishment of an abortion clinic there for nearly two years. Ontario Health Minister Ruth Grieg announced July [...]

Political mothers

Full-time mothers, like everyone else, have global concerns, but focus of their energy is by definition the home-front and meeting the basic needs of their families.  For women whose primary concern is their families, it may be difficult to achieve representation I government. I was intrigued by a story several months ago about a group of women in Hungary which has formed [...]

Are we our own worst enemies?

Do you find politics boring or sleazy?  Are you always complaining about this politician or that? In the upcoming federal election campaign, if you, who claim to be pro-life, vote for a candidate who is pro-abortion, you may as well be standing in the abortuary – passing the laminaria, the scalpel, the suction machine, the vacurettes, to your local abortionist. Welfare reform targets single mothers

The Ontario NDP government has finally decided to get tough with the province’s surging $17 billion debt.  Most recently, Premier Bob Rae has taken aim at trimming the welfare system which has long needed substantial reform. However, these latest rounds of proposed cuts have left many single parents, who depend on social assistance to care for their children, uncertain about their future. [...]

66 per cent of Canadians oppose abortion on demand

The large majority of Canadians are against abortion on demand, a recent Gallup Poll has found. The poll, released August 2, showed that almost seven out of every ten Canadians (66 per cent with three per cent undecided) think that abortion should be illegal under certain circumstances. The poll was based on interviews with 1,001 Canadian adults between June 22 and July [...]

Family losing tax ruling

Elaine and Walter Schachtschneider, of Hamilton, are married with children.  But if they had decided to live together without getting married they would have saved up to $1,200 a year in taxes. It’s part of the inequities built into the Canadian tax system which rewards couples for remaining unmarried.  Elaine took the case to the courts saying the laws were discriminatory against [...]
