Hi, my name is Kathleen Ross and I am an organizer for Ontario Students for Life. I am taking a year out of my university studies at Western to work full time for Ontario Students for Life. Why am I doing this? I guess you could say it is a calling. I feel very moved to devote some serious time and effort [...]

Hope for the Future at Toronto Youth Conference

On Saturday may 13 spring was enhanced by Toronto’s first Youth for Life Conference.  The conference arose from a need to learn more about how abortion affects our community, and more importantly to network with other young people to give the framework to build support groups within their schools. Over 70 pro-life teens from area high schools congregated in the cafeteria of [...]

Thousands sign chastity pledge

The sexual revolution coincided with “flower power” and the arrival of The Pill.  But the sexual revolution of the ’90s has a whole new flavour.  Consider the evidence. In July, more than 7,100 teenagers attending the National Baptist Federation conference in Hull, brought thousands of pledge forms signed by their peers across Canada, promising to abstain from sex until marriage. The pledges [...]

MSSB honours “sacred nature of life”

Over 104,000 students from the largest school board in Canada participated in a Respect for Life Week in May. Toronto’s Metro Separate School Board (MSSB) passed a resolution that the second week in May would be set aside for discussion, activities and prayer.  This coincidentally tied in with a youth celebration at Skydome and the commemoration of abortion in Canada. The MSSB [...]

Teens struggle with society’s pressure

Charlottetown – Teens in Eastern Canada are learning that peer pressure is not an insurmountable problem, and can even be an asset. They are turning enthusiastically to Peer Pressure Reversal, a program used to promote chastity and other positive values. “If peer pressure can be used negatively, it can also be used positively,” says Ray Malone, a guidance counsellor with the provincial [...]

A visit with Canada’s pro-life youth

I was invited to be a speaker at the Human Life International Conference in Cork, Ireland.  The Conference was held at the Blarney Park Hotel, outside Cork City, October 30 to November 1, and it was a great success.  I had intended to stay in Ireland with my family until November 16.  But, just before taking off for my native land, I [...]

Charlottetown – Five hundred youths from all across Canada gathered here in mid-October for the national conference of the Canadian Pro-Life Youth Organization (CYPLO). Canadian youth in Charlottetown

Organizers of the upcoming Lift up Life Conference in P.E.I. are hoping that the positive mood generated from Toronto’s Save the Planet’s People conference will carry up the St. Lawrence and into the Maritimes. The list of speakers for the October 16, 17, 18 meet is extremely impressive and serves as an early indication that the conference will be as successful as [...]

About 300 members of Students for Life picketed Toronto’s Bay Centre for Birth Control on November 30. Teenage pro-lifers mounted a rescue at Nikki Colodny’s Toronto abortuary on January 5th, at the same time as 7 other young offenders were on trial for their part in the injunction-breaking rescue at the Morgentaler `clinic’ in August 1989.  Fifteen members of Teenagers Rescuing Unborn Tiny Humans (TRUTH) were arrested after effectively shutting down the Colony `clinic’ and preventing abortions.  In the [...]
