Walk for Life – 600 Pro-Lifers gather

Hamilton’s second annual Walk For Life in June drew a crowd of more than 350 marchers, and a police motorcycle escort.  “It was spectacular,” said area Right to Life President Norman Donnelly.  “They were spread back about five blocks with a six-man motorcycle escort by the police department.” Another 250 enthusiastic people gathered to meet the marchers at the Walk’s finish.  Many [...]

Feminists oppose rent-a-womb

If you happened to have been down at Harbourfront in Toronto the last Thursday in May, you would have noticed an interesting event taking place in the Brigantine Room  a panel discussion on “Surrogate Motherhood.” Moderator Jeffrey Wilson, family layer and author of Children and the Law, introduced the topic and then invited each panelist to express his or her views.  Interesting [...]

Surprise guests at Montreal picket

There was a stench of evil in the air.  Everybody picketing the Morgentaler abortuary in Montreal felt it.  75 of the delegates attending the annual Alliance for Life convention paraded for an hour in front of the abortuary; a large, single-story corner house in a busy residential area. The “rent-a-goon” squad was there; about 15 of them, unshaven, spaced out, all of [...]

Liberals push Powell’s radicalism

Laura McArthur, president of the Right to Life Association of Toronto and Area, recently criticized Ontario’s Liberal government in its proposed implementation of the Powell Report on abortion in the province. “Why are we not moving on this?  The Powell report has been approved, and in a very short time this multi-million dollar scheme will strive to bring abortion to every city, [...]

Niagara women oppose pill pushing

Two Niagara area women have requested that the Regional Health Unit stop local birth control clinics from giving “morning-after” pills to teenagers.  They say that the pills are being dispensed illegally, that they are dangerous to health, and that the clinics are undermining parents’ rights in counseling and treating under-age teens without parental consent. Gerarda Savoie of Niagara Falls and Angela Braun [...]

Calgary’s hike for life

Calgary Pro-Life held its 7th annual “Hike-for-Life” on May 23, as its major fundraising event of the year. About 700 hikers attended the 10 km hike, accompanied by bicyclists, children in strollers, and people in wheelchairs.  The weather was perfect for the hike along river pathways, as a piper joined to liven the steps. The proceeds for the hike will go toward [...]

Calgary city council continues abortion referral funding

Calgary City Council has voted to continue funding a major abortion referral agency.  This reverses an earlier decision in which the council had voted to cut off funds to the Calgary Birth Control Association (CBCA).  Funding for the CBCA has come from the federal and provincial governments as well as Calgary City Council for several years.  At the same tie as it [...]

B.C. courts protect unborn baby

It appears that the recent court decision in Belleville, Ontario, to give protection to an unborn baby, was not an isolated incident.  In a move widely interpreted as affirming foetal rights, the British Columbia Ministry of Social Services has made a 36-week-old foetus a ward of the government. The mother, a prostitute and heroin addict, was reported as saying that she did [...]

Diabetes research methods acceptable

“No aborted fetuses were used in recent research for a cure for diabetes,” Colleen Morris, a medical relations officer with the University of Toronto, told The Interim recently. The confirmation came as a response to our requests for further clarification on news reports that three University of Toronto researches had eliminated diabetes in some laboratory rats in two separate experiments.  The reports [...]

Counseling saves a baby

At 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5th, 1987, a healthy 6 lb. 10 oz. baby girl was born in one of Toronto’s hospitals.  That this baby made it so far is remarkable. Late last September the mother had an appointment for an abortion at 85 Harbord.  She was new to Canada and was working as a nanny.  When she discovered that she [...]

Action Bulletin

On May 14, approximately 70 pro-lifers witnessed outside 14 Division in support of PC David Packer – the constable who refused to guard the illegal abortuary.  The witness coincided with Police Week and when a heavy thunderstorm cut short the witness, the police invited us into the police station for coffee. Joanne Dieleman was in court for “trespassing” a few weeks ago [...]

Pro-life defense fund

Since the arrest of the four pro-lifers in their homes and school many people have called and asked if they could contribute to their defense fund.  In fact, some have already contributed. This has led to some internal discussion within Campaign Life on whether a defense fund should, indeed, be set up.  Over the last two and-a-half years, there have been approximately [...]

Health minister picketed

Health Minister Murray Elston encountered his first “witness for life” on April 29.  Elston was addressing the annual meeting of Registered Nurses Association of Ontario at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto. The witness for life was to protest the pro-abortion actions taken recently by the Health Minister.  As well as allowing an illegal abortionist to claim on OHIP, on March 13 he [...]

Activists On campus pro-life

Our group, named ‘On Campus Pro-Life,” has been a great opportunity of meeting new friends at York University.  Over a period of five months we have received support from many people and a number of close friends have signed the petition for the economic support that as a University club we are entitled to.  “On Campus Pro-Life” is not a religious club. [...]

Hope for homosexuals – COURAGE

What is Courage? Courage is an organization of chaste homosexuals. What does it do? Courage is a spiritual support group of Catholic laity – men and women – who aspire to live chaste lives in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality. What is homosexuality? A psychological disorder. What causes it? Often an unsatisfactory relationship with the parent of the [...]
